IQ Testing

IQ stands for ‘Intelligence Quotient’ and psychologists have developed tests which measure IQ. Key tests are only available to registered Educational Psychologists and they cannot be purchased from the publishers without the required professional qualifications.

The tests used at the Oxford Educational Assessment Centre are the Wechsler Tests; there are three separate tests:

  • The Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence (WPPSI); for children 3 years to 6 years.
  • The Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC); for children 6 years to 16 years.
  • The Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS); for young people and adults 16+.

The IQ tests are designed to be attractive to children and children enjoy the challenge that the tests present.
